I work with a small number of schools each year in the Raleigh area, Wilmington and along the Cape Fear coast, so every student, parent and administrator gets my full attention. Why School Portraits Matter to Me
I've kept every one of my kids' school pictures. Every year we'd pull them out and laugh at the haircuts and the missing teeth, and marvel at how much they'd changed. Those photos matter, not because they're perfect but because they're real.
Getting a genuine smile out of a kid in front of my camera is one of my favorite things. I love watching students grow from one year to the next, and I'm honored every time a family trusts me with that moment. That's what I'm after with every child I photograph: a picture their family will want to keep, year after year.

How many students can you photograph?
I've photographed schools with as few as 50 and as many as 800 students and staff.
How do parents see their photos?
About two weeks after picture day, families get an email with a private access code. They enter it at shop.frandickenson.com/login (or scan the QR code in the email) to see their child's gallery and order. Nothing is due up front.
How does ordering work?
Parents order and pay online after viewing their photos. Orders placed in the first two weeks ship in bulk to the school. After that, orders ship directly to the family's home.
Does the school pay anything?
No. Nothing is due from the school. Families order only what they want.
Are the photos expensive?
No. Packages are reasonably priced, and there are prints, digital files and à la carte options to fit a range of budgets.
Is retouching included?
Every image is color corrected and edited. Additional retouching is available for a small fee.
Can families print digital files anywhere?
Yes. Once you purchase the high-resolution files, you can print them wherever you like.
When do you offer picture days?
Whenever works for your calendar. Many schools choose both a fall and a spring session, plus a makeup day for students who were absent.
Do you photograph teachers and staff?
Yes. Staff photographed on picture day receive a complimentary digital headshot for personal or professional use.
Do you offer sibling photos?
Yes, on a school-by-school basis. We'll talk through what works best for your school when we first connect.
Can we use the images for our yearbook?
Absolutely. The school receives high-resolution files at no extra charge for yearbooks, websites, ID cards and school records.
Will students' photos be used in advertising?
Only with a signed model release from the family.
