HOW A PERSONAL BRANDING SESSION IS DIFFERENT FROM A HEADSHOT SESSION | Raleigh Headshot Photography

Recently, I had the opportunity to work with April Koontz of A Chick Named Ape in my studio for a headshot and branding session. We had such a fun and inspiring time capturing her personality and vision in timeless, natural photos. We focused on images that would reflect the joyful, approachable nature of her work as a therapist, life coach, and songwriter, using soft lighting and simple backgrounds to let her genuine smile and warm energy shine through. I love helping local entrepreneurs create a strong visual presence that connects with their audience, and this session was a perfect example of that.

Personal brand photography is the art of using high-quality images to tell the story of your brand. It positions you as an expert in your field and gives your clients a more authentic experience. Whether you’re a coach, entrepreneur, influencer, or speaker, professional photography can take your branding to the next level.

How a Personal Branding Session Differs From a Headshot

Personal branding photography is a relatively new aspect of visual branding, with savvy business owners jumping on board to take their brand to the next level. A branding session differs from a typical headshot session in several key ways. With headshots, the focus is simply you, usually shot from the waist up. Headshots are part of a branding session, but we don’t stop there. I dig into not just who you are visually, but the story of what you do and why you do it, through detail shots, lifestyle shots, photos of you in action, you with your products, and more. Each session is fully customized to reflect your business and the message you want to convey.

Images from your branding session can be used on your website, social media, and promotional materials. They usually involve a number of different poses, angles, and perspectives. Sometimes, we might show you "doing your thing," or working in an office setting. Other times, we might show your personality through laughing pictures or you looking away from the camera. You are welcome to show props or to hold something you have been working on. The sky is the limit when it comes to creative ideas for a branding session.

Is a Personal Branding Session Right for You?

Consider a personal branding session if:

  • You own any kind of business.
  • You are the face of your brand and want people to connect with you.
  • You’re ready to take your visual branding to the next level.
  • You want your marketing to look fresh, polished, and professional.

I would love to help you bring every aspect of your brand to life through a professional, customized photo session. Your brand photography will draw clients in and give them a reason to choose you. I look forward to working with you and bringing your vision to life.
